A Strong Plan to Tackle the Opioid Crisis
I often get asked why I call myself a proud Conservative. People say “Why are you proud?”. There are many reasons that are too long for this article, but one of the biggest ones is the Conservative Party’s plan to Secure Mental Health. As a young person, this problem affects me and my peers more and more each day.
Such a problem has been increased throughout this pandemic and is getting to the point where suicide took the lives of 3,540 people in Canada and the opioid crisis took the lives of another 6,214 people. Mental health is an important issue and that’s why the CPC is the only party to have a clear mental health plan right now. They plan to make a nationwide 3 digit suicide prevention hotline, raise funding provincially for mental health, and to provide incentives for employers who provide mental health coverage to their employees.
The Conservative Party also takes a different approach from battling addiction and sees it as a mental health problem and not a criminal problem. The latter has shown to have not worked for the past years and a new approach is necessary. This forward-thinking approach is being taken by the Conservatives and shows that we are not a party that seeks to preserve the status quo, but wants to make a real and lasting change. So when someone asks you why you vote Conservative, say that you believe in a forward-thinking plan to Secure the Future.
